The Experience of God

Kathleen Sokes sgs  14 Mondays, 9.30-11am  Begins 15th. Feb.     $290

Through guided reflection on our human experiences of God, we grow in appreciation of both our own experience and the experience described in some of the classical writings about God and prayer.

Art as Prayer

Therese Quinn rsj  7 Tuesdays, 1.30-3.30pm  Begins 16th. Feb.    $150

Enjoying our praying: making an art journal, creation of mandalas, the zen of seeing, playing with clay and contemplating art works. We allow the visual language of line, color, shapes, tones and texture to speak and to help us recognize and accept the gifts of life of our Creator God.

The Song of the Mystics

Sue Richardson pbvm  6 Tuesdays,  7.30-9.30pm  Begins 23rd. Feb.    $130

We open the door on the lives of six medieval women who challenge us with their intelligence, wit and courage when it comes to taking God seriously. This seminar gives them a voice, ever ancient, ever new, and invites us to join with them in 'singing' their heart song.

Sophia Circles:   The Wisdom of God

Spiritual Director is Judith Lynch  Last Fri.10.00-12 noon  Begins 26th. Feb.  $10 per mth.

Sophia Circle invite small groups of women to reflect on and pray about the storied places in their lives. In Sophia Circles, everyday experiences of being women are explored through personal story, music, symbol and prayer. Through sharing, participants find strength and new life in both the uniqueness and the commonality of their experiences.

Being 'at home' in God: a Spiritual Journey with John's Gospel.

Mary Coloe pbvm  5 Wednesdays, 10.00-12 noon  Begins 3rd. Mar.   $110

"Make your home in me, as I make mine in you" (John 15:4) : the invitation of John's Gospel. THe seminar follows the Gospel story of the Beloved Disciple from the opening days to the 'hour' when Jesus is lifted up. The Gospel story gives new appreciation of John's Easter narratives.

Through our life experiences, God invites us to enter more deeply into our humanity, with all its ambiguities. In this seminar, we reflect on the experience of conversion from the perspectives of theology, human development theory and our own personal experiences. 

Dreams:  God's Language

This seminar offers ways to work with our dreams to find God's presence in our life. Our dreams invite us to greater depths of self-awareness, self-acceptance and inner freesom in our relationships.

The Landscape of God

Australia, the great South Land of the Holy Spirit, is suffused with God's dreaming. In its landscape, we see the face of God. This seminar offers an invitation to explore the Australian landscape where God has written and painted our stories, to unwrap the stories layer by layer till we reach their heart.

Reconciling Australia: A Gospel Imperative

This seminar invites to a new experience of following Jesus in Australia today. Robyn brings her experience of long years of living with indigenous peoples in the Northern Territory and her present connection with the Aboriginal Catholic Ministry in Melbourne. Especially through listening to the indigenous voice, the seminar aims to shed new light on our history, our awareness of the land, and on Christian social teaching.

The line from Gerald Manly Hopkins gives the theme for this reflective seminar. Beginning with a short film by Neil Rogin, The Awakening Universe, the seminar looks at the implications of our evolutionary story for how we understand ourselves and our relationships--- with one another, with God, and with the whole of creation. We focus on creation as a sacrament of Divine Presence animated by the life-giving Spirit of God.

Growth in self-knowledge is part of every Christian's journey towards wholeness. This seminar uses Myers-Briggs Typology to help deepen appreciation of the diversity and richness of personality styles and the uniqueness of each one's relationships with God and with others.
